Winter Journey

Day 1 Whyalla

We said goodbye to Port Pirie on a cold grey day and headed north to Port Augusta before turning left and travelling down the Eyre Peninsula.

We got heaps of rain on the way north but it cleared and blue skies followed us south once again. The country we drove through was spectacular and reminiscent of the land around Broken Hill. It went from flat and desert like to undulating hilly terrain.

We have followed a pipe like this all the way from the Victorian border
today we discovered that it  delivers Murray River water to the region.

Whyalla wasn't at all like I expected it to be. It's a large regional city with lovely homes and wide roads. Of course the iron ore industry is the major factor, this city has everything else you would expect too.

This shows the foreshore looking toward the caravan park
After settling into the caravan park on the foreshore we drove around, found a large shopping complex and were able to buy some fish for dinner and wine to go with it.
