Moruya & Batemans Bay NSW

From Narooma we have visited Moruya and Batemans Bay stopping at most of the scenic bays and beaches along the way.

Bermagui NSW

Blogging is not that easy when faced with Internet problems...lets blame Telstra :)

We enjoyed our stay at Wallaga Lake and the surrounding area, a definite highlight was a lovely day trip to Tilba and Tilba Central,two lovely little townships preserved by the National Trust.
Quaint shops and the ABC cheese factory a big hit.

We have only moved on a short distance to stay at Narooma Island View Beach Resort and are about 100m from the surf, it's  a lovely caravan park with all the expected facilities.

That's the township of Bermagui in the distance, I just love the colours
 of sky and water



Lots of history of the area in Tilba Central which was once the a gold mining town.
When the miners moved on to richer fields the cheese factory kept the town going
 and when the dairy industry declined the National Trust took over.

 

Two gorgeous little houses on the outskirts of Tilba Central,
 this one definitely still inhabited.
They are probably in there right now watching TV

Tathra NSW

We spent the afternoon meandering up the coast passing through Eden, Pambula, Merimbula and Tathra.
It was lovely to take our time, stopping when we wanted, not being in a hurry.

We finally got to Bermagui and found the Wallaga Lake caravan Park which will be our base for the next couple of days.

Genoa Vic

Genoa is the last Victorian town before the border.
We were fortunate enough to find a spot in a great free camp which was once a caravan park. We arrived around 5pm and surprised to find so many vans already there, the next day discovered that people started to arrive from about noon to secure a good place.
We stayed for 2 nights just relaxing and chatting with neighbours who were immensely helpful and generous sharing their caravanning knowledge with us.

Orbost Vic

Orbost is a lovely little township on the Snowy River, we always to stop for a break there on the way up the east coast.

The Slab Hut was originally a family home constructed without nails in 1872

Gunaikurnai Land

The Gunaikurnai people are the traditional owners of Gippsland the area we are now visiting.
We had a picnic lunch beside the Mitchell River at Bairnesdale then followed the Mitchell to Eagle Point to find the Silt Jetties.

"The Mitchell River silt jetties are an unusually long, thin landform located in the Gippsland Lakes region in Victoria, Australia. A type of digitate delta, they have been formed over millions of years by sediment deposition from the Mitchell River during periods of low water flow and subsequent wash-through during periods of high water flow. The long narrow banks of silt thus formed extend more than eight kilometres east into Lake King. The south bank is navigable by car from Eagle Point through to the very easternmost tip at Point Dawson." (Thanks Wikipedia)

Paynesville Vic

We decided that the theme of this trip will be relaxation. We have started well.

We found the Lake King Waterfront Caravan Park and are staying here until Sunday.

Peaceful and beautiful describes it well and we are taking our time with everything.

The local township of Paynesville is a quiet strip of cafes and shops where you can buy a million dollar boat, a prosciutto fig and camembert pizza but not a fly swat!
