Quaama, Bega NSW Genoa, Cann River, Bruthen & Bairnsdale Vic

We left Narooma and headed southward toward home, we drove through Quaama and our first stop was Bega, famous for the cheese we all know. There is a museum, restaurant and gift shop, we browsed, tasted the yummy cheeses and shopped.

Next stop was the camp at Genoa, we explored the area more, chatted to the neighbours and relaxed after the drive.

This morning we headed for Maffra and passed the picturesque villages of Cann River and Bruthen, then on to Bairnsdale where we visited the beautiful St Mary's Catholic Church.

It took some time to find the caravan park when we arrived in Maffra in the late afternoon, when we did we decided to press on to Sale, the next town.

As far as caravan parks go this one in Maffra is by far the worst we have ever come across. Such a shame because we talked to a couple of very nice people there.

Once in Sale we found a great park to overnight in.

We expect to be home after lunch tomorrow after almost 5 weeks away.

Wallaga Lake NSW

We left the very hot caravan park this morning to find the perfect place for fishing and a picnic.
We settled for the day under the trees beside Wallaga Lake and were delighted to be getting a deliciously cool ocean breeze.

New friends Carol & Fred joined us so the day was very very enjoyable with lots of laughter and conversation.

Batemans Bay NSW

Mission accomplished in Batemans Bay today, we found the drinking water hose we needed and also bought some essential wine glasses for the caravan.

We enjoyed a delicious lunch at the Starfish Deli Restaurant right on the wharf. it was so relaxing watching the view, the pelicans and the passing parade.

Narooma NSW

Not much to report since coming back to Narooma other than relaxing, reading, sleeping and beach combing.

Oh and Trev did catch a salmon last night so is out there again tonight hoping to repeat the performance.

The caravan park has become blissfully quiet again after millions of kids and their families left on Sunday night to get ready to inflict themselves on their school teachers today...bless em

We are having a trip back to Batemans Bay tomorrow to source a new drinking water hose as our old one has perished (poor thing) and we have almost exhausted our tank. We will swap our usual picnic for a "nice" lunch...looking forward to that :)

We will leave here on Friday and seriously head for home and expect to be there on the 16th March.

More beach photos...sorry I can't resist it's so breathtakingly beautiful here.

That's Montague Island in the distance, hence the name of the caravan park

Milton, Ulladulla, Kings Point & Mogo NSW

Unfortunately a camera malfunction stopped us getting any photos in the historic township of Milton  (est 1860) which is situated on the Princess Highway not far north of Ulladulla,.

We wandered along the main street and browsed most of the trendy and expensive shops...beats me how these places pay and if people really want to buy the "different" things to take back to their homes after their holidays.

We then drove inland a fair way and ended up half way up a mountain, think it was called Monkey Mountain and I am not sure why. The road was terrible and as we seemed to be getting more and more into a wilderness area we turned around and beat a hasty retreat....so much for our adventurous spirit.

We spent the next day in and around Ulladulla returning to Dolphin Point at low tide which was amazing.
Discovering Kings Point another highlight, its a small settlement on the other end of Burrill Lake, a very pretty spot.

After leaving Ulladulla to slowly make our way towards home we stopped at Mogo, another "historic" township, sadly full of shops selling Indonesian wares and not much else! Once a prosperous gold rush town now a sad shadow grabbing tourists when it can. Trev did have a yummy rocky road  ice-cream there which was a bonus on a stinking hot day.

When we arrived back at the Narooma Island View Resort is was sort of like coming home so settled in easily and it was lovely to see Carol and Fred a lovely couple we met in Ulladulla here too.
Fred and Trevor are planning fishing trips together...Carol and I are not!...

The weather forecast tells us that its going to be hot hot and hot, so we will be staying put and relaxing for at least the next week.

I think the camera problems are sorted, will post what I have, faults and all xox
