Lake Boga Vic

We had a relaxing day meandering on secondary roads between Nhill and Lake Boga.
Stopped for our picnic lunch at Lake Lascelles near Hopetoun which is a lovely spot enjoyed by many.
We explored the free camping areas around the lake and have decided to stop there next time we are passing.
Driving through the countryside certainly gave us an appreciation for the people who work on the land in our country.
Lake Boga is beautiful, the perfect place to stay so we can check out the surrounding sights.

The Little Desert Vic

My favourite part of today was The little Desert National Park.
We went from seeing lush pastures and majestic gum trees to a stark and alien landscape with totally different plants.

Dimboola Vic

We spotted Pink Lake as we sped past on the way to Dimboola.
Thought it was worth turning back for a look and some photos. There is a picnic area there and toilets. We had a good view from the platform provided and there was also a walking track.
Salt and other minerals do give this lake it's distinct pink colour.

Dimboola was much smaller than I expected with a deserted main street. We found a lovely spot on the Wimmera River for our picnic and then we explored the Horseshoe Bend camping areas along the river. There are lots of good camping spots there, unfortunately dogs are not allowed.

Nhill Vic

We arrived at the Nhill caravan park just in time to set up our camp and have a glass of wine before dinner,

The caravan park is situated on the west of the small township. The amenities are good and our ensuite site, basic but for $1 extra was totally worth it.

We stayed here for two nights, our base to visit Dimboola, Jeparit, Lake Hindmarsh and
The Little Desert.
The town, although small had everything we needed. The Saturday market at the local Uniting Church had a great cake stall and friendly people.

Harrow Vic

We had both been to Harrow many many years ago so decided to revisit on the way to Nhill.
We had relatives who had a property near by, neither of us remembered the town. Perhaps we had only visited the homestead.

A lovely little town and is the oldest inland town in Victoria. The historic society has done a good job restoring many of the buildings to interest the tourists. We wandered around then had lunch in the park.

Buying coffee to have with our sandwiches was a mistake though...very weak, very milky and $4.50 each so not a good ad for the only café in the tiny town.

The Grampians Vic

After being in Hamilton for 13 weeks Steph had not seen anything of the surrounding area because of work commitments.
We took the opportunity of her day off to tour the area driving through the incredible beautiful Grampians, lunching at Cavendish and stopping at Wannon Falls on the way back.
